Sibley school is collecting food items for MarketPlace Foods Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive for Charity.  Each classroom will be collecting food items from November3rd until December 9th.  Did we mention there will be a special prize for the classroom who collects the most food items??

Sibley's 3rd graders went on a Farm Tour Wednesday, September 25th.  They had a great time.  The third graders even got to bring back a sack of potatoes!

 

Author Mary Bleckwehl Visits Sibley

"Stuff-A-Truck" Food Drive

November 16, 2012

From October 16th through November 16th, Sibley students collected and donated 968 food items for those in need. This operation, well known as Nelson's "Stuff-A-Truck" Food Drive, is a community effort to better the lives of those less fortunate this upcoming holiday season.  On November 20th, all donations will be "stuffed" into a semi-truck and delivered to the Albert Lea Food Shelf.  Thank you Sibley students and families for your donation!

Teaching about heritage

Sibley's Morning Music group participated in the Taste of Heritage at Northbridge Mall this past Saturday.  The group sang with three elementary choirs from Albert Lea.  Read more about the Taste of Heritage event at the Albert Lea Tribune.

4th Grade to the Rendezvous

On October 4th, fourth grade students from Sibley Elementary School participated in Education Day at the Big Island Rendezvous.  The field trip was a part of the ongoing arts integration program that is part of a grant awarded to Sibley Elementary School from the Perpich Center for Arts Education, located in Golden Valley, MN. 

Firefighters Visit 1st grade/Free t-shirts

Firefighters visited Sibley's 1st grade classrooms. They received fire safety checklists to take home and complete, and returned to school on friday to receive a Free T-shirt. They will be visiting the fire station later this month.

Mango Languages

New Books have arrived at Sibley

Students at Sibley are very excited about the new books that became available for circulation this week!  They have been rushing to the library hoping to check out the new fiction and nonfiction books they're most interested in reading.  Mrs. Seeger and Mrs. Peek are more than thrilled about the excitement surrounding reading in Sibley's library!

United Way Book Day at Sibley

Kindergarten through second grade students were given a book, Chuck the Duck Meets New Friends, from the United Way of Freeborn County.  Voluteers also took time to read the story to each classroom and explain how the United Way helps the community.  United Way of Freeborn County has published a book for the past 12 years with the help of sponsors.
