Sibley school is collecting food items for MarketPlace Foods Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive for Charity.  Each classroom will be collecting food items from November3rd until December 9th.  Did we mention there will be a special prize for the classroom who collects the most food items??

Sibley students raise $15K for school programs, visits

Students at Sibley Elementary School had a special chance to raise money, get their principal in a dunk tank and get some exercise all at the same time on Friday. 

Sibley's parent-teacher organization, Sibley SHARE, organized a walking event called Stroll for a Goal.

Learning Perceptions

Cancer Survivor Climbs Mount Everest

On Friday, May 6, 2011, Justin Anderson visited several classrooms at Sibley. Justin shared his story of perseverance through tough times. At the age of 26 he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. After successful surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, Justin had the opportunity to climb to the base camp of Mount Everest with other cancer survivors.

The public library literacy event was a HUGE success!  We had approximately 116 Sibley students attend!  Students signed up for library cards, received free books, and made a summer reading plan. 

Fourth Grade Visits Rendezvous

On October 3rd the fourth grade students from Sibley Elementary School participated in Education Day at the Big Island Rendezvous.  The field trip was a part of the ongoing arts integration program that is part of a grant awarded to Sibley Elementary School from the Perpich Center for Arts Education, located in St. Paul.

Volunteer Opportunity with Destination Imagination

Many of you have heard about Albert Lea student's participation in Destination Imagination last year.  We had 10 teams - 60 students - representing all elementary schools, Southwest Middle School and Albert Lea High School.  Seven teams earned the right to participate in the state competition.

Sibley's Wednesday Morning Reading Club Starts January 16th

The Sibley morning reading club starts up again this week.  Please note the day has changed to Wednesday mornings.  We will be meeting in the media center starting at 7:45am-8:20am.  Parents and community members will be volunteering their time to read all kinds of fun and interesting stories to children in grades K-5!  Find out more information here or by calling Sibley at 379-5080.
