Cancer Survivor Climbs Mount Everest

On Friday, May 6, 2011, Justin Anderson visited several classrooms at Sibley. Justin shared his story of perseverance through tough times. At the age of 26 he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. After successful surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, Justin had the opportunity to climb to the base camp of Mount Everest with other cancer survivors. He shared his experience with students and encouraged them to work hard and dream big. Justin shared pictures and information about Nepal and reminded students to be thankful for the great educational opportunities they have. Justin is the son of Kim Buffington, a paraprofessional at Sibley.
