4th Grade to Surf Ballroom, MacNider Art Museum, and Music Man Square

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Our 4th grade students participated in a field trip on October 26th.  They traveled to the Surf Ballroom, the MacNider Art Museum, and Music Man Square.

Students were able to learn about the history of the Surf Ballroom and performed a dance with Mrs. Hanson on the big floor.  They then loaded the bus and traveled to Mason City, IA.  While they were there, the students toured the art museum, Music Man Square and Meredith Wilson's boyhood home.  At Music Man Square they were able to see a replica of the yesteryear city of Mason City.  Students then returned to Sibley and wrote a few quotes about their trip the following day:

"I thought it was cool that the Big Bopper's suitcase is in the Surf Ballroom." Ian

"I saw the last phone that Buddy Holly used." Erick

"I wonder how long it took them to make the museum?" Laynie

This field trip was sponsored by our Perpich Arts grant.
