I am thrilled with the opportunity to be Principal at Hawthorne Elementary! We have an amazing staff that care for students like they are their own! A bit about me, I graduated from Cumberland College (KY) in 2001 (where I played basketball) and in 2010, I obtained my Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands (KY). I graduated in 2014 through St. Mary's (MN.) with my administrative license.
Prior to being in Albert Lea, I was an Assistant Principal at Sweeney Elementary where I had the privilege of working with many great educators and students. Before Shakopee, I was an Emotional/Behavorial Disorder (EBD) teacher at Northfield High School for five years and previous to that I spend nine years in the same position at Northfield Middle School. I very much enjoyed my time as a teacher in Northfield but I love being in an administrative role that allows me to serve students, staff, and the community as a whole! A fun fact, for sixteen years, I also was an assistant basketball coach for the men at St. Olaf College.
I live in Northfield with my wife Stephanie of fifteen years and we have two children, Isaiah (12) and Amber (10). I enjoy golfing, being with my family/friends in my free-time along with participating in the many activities that my kids are in. Although I'm new to Hawthorne and the Albert Lea community, I have already learned a great deal about this community and I can't wait to collaborate with so many tremendous people that make this job enjoyable to come to each day! Go Tigers!
